MCS Malfunction - Audio Muted, Sound System/CD Changer Operation Briefly
Interrupted

In the above model vehicles, if you receive customer reports of the sound system muting or CD changer operation being briefly interrupted, please refer to the below procedure to resolve. The following fault codes are present: N1111, N1112 and N1116. The affected VIN range is A409851 through A419036.

The malfunctions may be caused when the TeleAid control unit enters by-pass mode and the D2B data transfer is interrupted. The TeleAid control unit then becomes vacant on the D2B ring, which can be verified by DAS. The emergency calling function is NOT affected.

Step 1 - Connect SDS. Use only DAS version 04/2003 or later.

Step 2 - Flash TeleAid control unit by following the path:

1. Control Units

2. Information and Communication

3. TELE AID, E-call or cellular telephone - Telematic system (K-wire)

4. Control unit adaptations

Step 3 - Select "Control module programming".

Step 4 - SDS will then determine if the control unit has the newest software. If it is found, then follow the instructions until the flash process is complete. Ensure that battery voltage is a least liv. Verify that the flash process was successful. If it is not found, SDS will then return to the Control unit adaptations menu. In this case exit DAS and notify the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) via approved TAC caller dealer personnel, as the conditions of the issue may not be related to the TeleAid control unit and further diagnosis is required.

Step 5 - Exit DAS and disconnect SDS. Authorize an emergency call by pressing the SDS button. Step 6 - Reconnect SDS and start DAS.

Step 7 - Perform a short test and erase all fault codes, as DTCs will be stored in the MCS and TeleAid control unit.

Step 8 - Return to the TELE AID" menu and select Control unit version". Verify that Software version" is 04/03

Step 9 - Exit DAS and disconnect SDS.
