Audio System - FM Band Interference

SUBJECT:
Model 163.154/157/172/174/175 with Rear Seat Entertainment Radio Reception Interference in FM

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the radio having reception interference on FM radio stations, please remove the FM modulator and noise filter to resolve using following procedure.

Note:
After the following repair, video system audio will be transmitted only via headphones.

1. Remove radio as per WIS document AR82.60-P-7502WA.

2. Remove glove compartment as per WIS document AR68.10-P-1400GI.





3. Remove foam (Figure 1, 8) and unplug FM modulator cable (Figure 1, 6) from vehicle antenna cable (Figure 1, 7).





4. Unplug and detach FM modulator (Figure 2, 1) from Central Interface Module (Figure 2, 2).

5. Dispose the removed FM modulator.





6. Unplug noise filter (Figure 3, 12), connect wires of wiring harness (Figure 3, 11) and discard the filter.

Note:
The filter is secured under right-hand instrument panel support (Figure 2, 3).

Rear Seat Entertainment System Notice:
Please disregard the Owner's Manual instructions for playing video soundtracks over the radio. This function has been removed from this vehicle. To listen to video dialog, use the wired or optional wireless headphones. The headphone operating instructions remain unchanged.
