Complaint:

Whistling noises from ventilation system in fresh air mode (noises changes with blower setting).

Affected vehicles: production up to approx. 11/2005.

Cause:

Recirculated air/fresh air flap does not close tightly.

Remedy:

Bond a 10 mm thick PE foam block on the sealing edge of the recirculated air inlet housing. The flap should have a gap of approx. 10mm.

The foam block should be approx. 40 mm long and is installed from above though the filter removal opening (see picture).

The air conditioner housing does not need to be removed.

In the case of a complaint, measures must be taken to prevent the sealing lip of the flap from resting against the sealing surface when the flap is in the fresh air position.
