Stone Chips in the Area of the Rear Doors, Rear Fenders and/or Rocker Panels
NOTE:
Repair information is for Body shops only.
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles regarding stone chips in the area of the rear doors, rear fenders and/or rocker panels (Figure 1), this may be caused by the tires kicking up gravel and debris when driving and the adjustment of the rear doors.
1. Repair paint damage in the affected area (Figure 1). Refer to your approved paint vendor's paint repair procedures. The approved paint vendors and clear coat products are BASF Glasurit 22 Line, 55 Line or 90 Line and R-M Uno-HD or Diamont; DPC Spies-Hecker Permacron, Permahyhyd or Permasolid, Standox MSB, 2K HS or Staindohyd and DuPont ChromaPremier and PPG GRS-BC or Enviro-Base. 2. Apply stone chip guards on the rear doors and rear dog legs.
3. Check adjustment of the rear doors in the fore/aft direction. For door adjustment, refer to WIS document AR72.10-P-0550GZ for front doors and AR72.12-P-0650GZ for rear doors.
NOTE:
- In extreme cases, it is advisable to install mud guards.
- This repair cannot be claimed under warranty.
