Driver and Passenger Front Heated Seats Nonfunctional
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of both driver and passenger front heated seats not functioning, the Front Signal Acquisition and Actuation Module (SAM) may need to be replaced.
The Front SAM control unit may lose variant coding for heated seats, due to a faulty EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory) chip. Follow the procedure below to remedy.
1. Replace the Front SAM as per WIS document AR54.21-P-1254GZ.
Note:
Using the STAR Diagnosis option "Initial startup with automatic takeover of settings of previous control unit" may not properly code the heated seats option on the new Front SAM.
2. Verify that the correct variant coding for seat heater is selected by navigating to the following STAR Diagnosis menu: Control Units --> Body --> SAM-F --> Control unit adaptations ~ Read coding and change if necessary --> Basic Setting
3. Set seat heater to "Present"
