DVD NAVIGATION INSTALLATION
WARNING
Do not disconnect the negative battery cable. Extensive reprogramming requirements will otherwise be necessary. Wiring harnesses will therefore be electrically active.
Severe vehicle damage, personal injury, or death from electrical shock could result. Exercise extreme caution while executing these installation instructions. Keep the ignition and radio powered OFF through the final test.
A. Preparing for the installation
1. Read these installation instructions in their entirety before proceeding.
2. Unpack and compare the installation kit contents against the Parts Information list-Section F.
3. Place the operating guides and customer accessories in the glove box or appropriate stowage or storage compartment.
4. Remove the head unit.
^ Refer to WIS document AR82.60-P-7502GZ, "Remove/install radio"
B. Installing the DVD NAVIGATION processor
1. Remove the dummy module (A, Figure 1) atop the head unit by removing the two Phillips head screws (Arrows, Figure 1) on both sides and pulling the module out horizontally.
2. Install the DVD NAVIGATION processor (A, Figure 2) in the space atop the head unit vacated by the dummy module:
a. Slide the DVD NAVIGATION processor face first toward the face of the head unit until the connector (Figure 3) plugs into the receptacle in the head unit.
b. Secure the DVD NAVIGATION processor to the head unit at both sides with the Phillips head screws (Arrows, Figure 2) removed with the dummy module.
NOTICE!
Incorrect installation of connectors can result in damaged, bent pins. Damaged, bent pins will result in component malfunction or failure. Inspect connectors before and after installation.
3. In the cavity exposed by the removed head unit, find and identify the GPS antenna connector (Figure 4) for the DVD NAVIGATION processor.
4. Connect the GPS antenna connector to the DVD NAVIGATION processor (Figure 5).
C. Installing and connecting the GPS antenna splitter (models with Tele Aid)
1. Lift up the left, rear seat bottom by pulling up the release handle on the side toward the front seat backrest.
2. At the rear of the Tele Aid/MHI control module bracket assembly, find the:
^ Coupled female antenna lead (A, Figure 6) and male antenna lead (B, Figure 6) Pre-wired antenna lead (C, Figure 6)
3. Disconnect the female antenna lead (A, Figure 7) and the male antenna lead (B, Figure 7) from one another.
4. Mount the GPS antenna splitter (Figure 8) to the Tele Aid/MHI control module bracket by inserting the two clips on its underside into the holes in the bracket.
5. Connect the antenna splitter.
a. Connect the male antenna lead to the antenna splitter output jack with the red retainer clip (A, Figure 9).
b. Connect the female antenna lead with the retainer clip to the antenna splitter input jack (B, Figure 9).
c. Connect the pre-wired antenna lead to the antenna splitter output jack with the black retainer clip (C, Figure 9).
Note:
Make sure the connectors lock into the retainer clips.
D. Version coding the MOST components
1. Connect Star Diagnosis to the vehicle.
2. Set the COMAND with integral audio gateway to recognize the presence of the DVD NAVIGATION processor via path:
Control Units > Information and communication > Audio, video, navigation and telematics > COMAND with integral audio gateway > Control unit adaptations > Read coding and change if necessary > Additional settings > Select "Navigation system," set to OFF ROAD > Select "Compass module," set to NOT PRESENT, Press F5 > F3: Yes/Coding > F2: to confirm the coding has been carried out
3. Set the instrument cluster in accordance with STAR Bulletin T-B-54.30/136a, "Instrument Cluster SCN Coding for Component Replacement or Dealer Installed Accessories" to recognize presence of the DVD NAVIGATION processor.
4. Check the DTC memory of all installed components and the head unit. Investigate and identify any present DTCs. Once identified, correct the source of the DTCs and clear the DTC memory.
Note:
Powering up the newly installed system prior to version coding will set errors in the MOST ring configuration. Ignore these errors during the initial DTC check. If, after clearing the DTC memory, they return in the next step, a configuration error is present. Locate and correct the error.
5. Confirm no new DTCs are present in the MOST system group.
E. Final assembly and function testing
1. Verify correct DVD NAVIGATION operation.
^ Insert the DVD into the DVD NAVIGATION processor
^ Turn on the head unit
^ Select MAR or NAVI and wait for loading to complete
^ Remove the ignition key (with the head unit turned OFF)
^ Wait five minutes
^ Turn on the head unit and check DVD NAVIGATION operation
2. Reinstall the head unit.
^ Refer to WIS document AR82.60-P-7502GZ, "Remove/install radio"
