Display Message (white) in Instrument Cluster "Tire Pressure Monitor
Currently Unavailable" and Fault Lamp Flashes
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the below message in the instrument cluster accompanied by the below fault codes, the cause may be that the transfer rate of the radio telegrams from wheel sensors to the TPC control module are sometimes disrupted by interference from the fuel pump. Currently, investigations have identified that the left front wheel is most susceptible. Replacement of components in the tire pressure monitoring system and/or fuel system does not correct the condition.
Message in Instrument Cluster: "Tire pressure monitor currently unavailable" (information message from tire pressure monitoring system)
Event Code: 9150 (Signal transmission is disrupted by interference from an external transmitter)
Fault Code: 9110 or 9111, 9112, 9113 (Signal transmission between at least one wheel sensor and control unit is disrupted) stored in the control unit of the tire pressure monitoring system
With DAS Version 01/07, both the associated fault logic and automated evaluation of reception quality are stored. Notes on interpretation of reception quality appear within the actual value menu (valid for SDS 01/07 and later). Please note that the actual values (transfer rate %) should only be used for diagnosis purposes. It should be confirmed that new wheel sensors were not installed recently or the vehicle has not been operated without wheel sensors.
When new wheel sensors are installed, the reception counter is reset to zero (actual value) and begins counting up again. On vehicles without wheel sensors, it is not possible to draw any conclusions with regard to reception quality.
Normally, the transfer rate of the wheel sensors is >90% on vehicles which are performing well. If the transfer rate is <90%, it is likely that the radio interference is caused by the fuel pump. If this is the case,
there is presently no remedy available. When a repair solution becomes available, this document will be revised with the necessary parts and procedures.
