GF82.30-P-3004GZ Windshield Wiper, Function
Component Identification:
Function prerequisite
^ C. 15R On
Automatic control
The automatic wiper control (rain sensor operation) function is switched on by turning the combination switch to position "I" or to position "II" (model 164.8 only). The wiper motor is actuated depending on
^ Degree of windshield wetting
^ Ambient light conditions
^ Vehicle speed
^ Outside temperature are actuated.
The rain/light sensor and the overhead control panel control unit evaluate the signals. The wiper motor is actuated via CAN class B by the front SAM control unit.
Possible wiper stages
^ Intermittent wiper with variable intervals.
^ Continuous wiping at the required wiping speed.
Emergency running
If the communication between the rain/light sensor and the overhead control panel control unit fails, intermittent operation is activated at fixed intervals (approx. 5 sec.). If automatic speed reduction is active the interval is approx. 7.5 sec.
Automatic speed reduction not for vehicles with USA version, code 494.
Wiping at predetermined speed Model 164.1
Continuous wiping is activated by turning the combination switch to position "II" or "III".
Model 164.8
Continuous wiping is activated by turning the combination switch position "III" or "IV".
The requests from the combination switch are sent over the steering column module to the front SAM control unit. The front SAM control unit actuates the wiper motor as per the requests.
^ For continuous wiping at a slow speed (stage 1, approx. 40 cycles/min.), turn the combination switch to position "II" (model 164.1) or to position "III" (model 164.8).
^ For continuous wiping at a fast speed (stage 2, approx. 60 cycles/min.), turn the combination switch to position "III" (model 164.1) or to position "IV" (model 164.8).
^ For touch wiping, briefly push combination switch to the catch point.
By briefly pressing the combination switch, a single wipe is performed, when pressing for longer the wiping continues in accordance with the duration that the switch is actuated. Touch wiping always takes place at the currently selected speed stage but at least at stage 1. Touch wiping has priority over intermittent wiping. Touch wiping takes place independently of the operation of the windshield washer fluid pump (M5/1).
