AR54.10-P-1030-10RT Locate Defective Consumer Via CAN Bus
Commercially Available Tools:
Component Identification:
1. Measure the "low" and "high" level to ground at the passenger-side voltage distributor connector (CAN-C) (X30/19) using multimeter.
2.1 If "low" level and/or "high" level of engine compartment CAN bus (CAN-C) is energized:
Detach the connectors of the CAN C participants in sequence at the passenger-side voltage distributor connector (CAN-C) (X30/19), in the process observe the quiescent current consumption. If quiescent current consumption drops below 0.05 A, defective consumer has been located.
Detach and then reattach connector before moving on to next connector.
2.2 If "low" level and "high" level of engine compartment CAN bus (CAN-C) are de-energized:
Measure the "low" and "high" level of the interior CAN bus (CAN B) to ground at the right voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/4), the cockpit voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/6) or the voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/7) using multimeter.
12 V must be applied at one of the two levels, the other must be free of voltage.
3.1 If neither of the two levels of the Interior CAN bus (CAN-B) is free of voltage:
Detach the connectors of the CAN B participants in sequence at the right voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/4), the cockpit voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/6) and the voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/7), in the process observe the quiescent current consumption. If quiescent current consumption drops below 0.05 A, defective consumer has been located.
Detach and then reattach connector before moving on to next connector.
On vehicles with rear audio system, code 519 or with rear entertainment system, code 864: Check the participants of the telematics CAN at the telematics CAN voltage distributor connector (X30/35) according to the same principle.
3.2 If 12 V is applied at one of the two levels and the other is free of voltage. Localize defective consumer via the power supply: See main document.
