3. Termination commands (close a function, cancel a function or refer to a subordinate function) are:

Dialogue example for establishing a connection by entering a telephone number:
After the command "Dial number", the VCS [SBS] prompts the user to enter the telephone number "Please say the number". The digits "zero" to "nine" and the word "plus" are permissible. The word "plus" stands for the international country code (e.g. "00") The telephone number can consist of 1 to 30 digits and can be entered as a number chain or as number blocks. A number chain is the serial entry of digits (spoken together). After the number chain is entered, it is repeated by the VCS [SBS].

Number blocks is the entry of approx. 3 to 5 digits per block and a speech pause of approx. 0.5 s between the individual blocks. After entry of a number block, the VCS [SBS] repeats the recognized digits and waits for the user to continue speaking. The SBS is in constant communication with the user and also indicates faulty recognitions or incorrect entries. The user can then enter additional digits, a termination command or an editing command. If the entry of the telephone number is correct, the telephone connection is established via the "Dial" command. The entered telephone number appears in the display of the COMAND controller unit and in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1).

The "Cancel" command is used to end the dialogue.

Telephone-related displays in the instrument cluster can be switched off by coding.

Dialogue example for saving a name in the address book:
Frequently used telephone numbers can be stored in the VCS [SBS]. After the command "Save name", the VCS [SBS] prompts the user to enter the telephone number "Please say the number". Once the telephone number has been entered, the "Save" command is entered. The VCS [SBS] prompts the user to enter the name "Please say name". After that, the user is prompted by the VCS [SBS] to repeat the name "Please repeat name". Next, the user is asked in which file of the address books he wants the system to save the number "Where would you like to save the number: home, mobile or work".
The VCS [SBS] confirms this procedure with the voice output "Name and number have been stored".

The entry stored in the telephone book can only be called up reliably by the user who store them.

Dialogue example for establishing a connection by entering a name:
After entry of the command "Dial name", the VCS [SBS] prompts the user to state the desired name. If several entries exist under the name (home, mobile or work), the user is asked by the SBS "Which number would you like to dial: home, mobile or work". After the user has responded (e.g. "home"), the SBS announces the name and the type of entry and states "The number is being dialed".
With the dialing option explained here, the termination command "Dial" is not necessary.

Dialogue example for establishing a connection by redialing:
If the desired numbers are not available for the dialing options listed (e.g. desired number is busy), it is possible for the user to have the VCS [SBS] dial the last number again after cancelation of the dialing process and subsequent reactivation of the VCS [SBS] using the VCS [SBS] switch with the editing command "Redial".

Dialogue example of an editing command for correcting errors:
If the VCS [SBS] has incorrectly interpreted a number entry or the user has made a wrong entry, then this number can be corrected using two methods.
1. If the number has been entered as a number chain (spoken together, without any pause), then the number can be changed using the editing commands:
^ Delete
^ Delete number
^ Delete telephone number

All previously entered digits are deleted and new digits or commands can be entered. The SBS announces this to the user via the voice output "The number has been deleted, please say number or command".

2. If the number was entered as a sequence of number blocks (3 to 5 digits per block, speech pause of 0.5 s between the individual blocks), the number can be changed via the editing commands:
^ Correct
^ Correction
^ Correct telephone/number

During each of the dialing options, it is always possible to terminate the dialogue with the VCS [SBS] by pressing the VCS [SBS] switch or using the "Cancel" command. It is also possible to establish long-distance calls to foreign countries using the VCS [SBS] or to control message services/mailboxes.

A Help function exists which is intended to make operation of the VCS as easy as possible for the user.

If the user is in dialogue with the telephone and speaks the "Help" command, the VCS [SBS] provides the most important telephone commands.

If the user is in dialogue with COMAND, he/she can change the system with the "Help telephone" command; the VCS [SBS] then reads out the most important telephone commands. By pressing the VCS [SBS] switch, the user can have the system execute the command that was last read out.
For additional information, please see the operator's manual for the voice control system (VCS [SBS]) (LINGUATRONIC).
