GF82.61-P-2006RTE Audio 50 APS Volume/Sound Settings, Function
- with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio

The signal processing required for the volume and tone settings is accomplished by the radio and navigation unit (A2/56). If the vehicle is additionally equipped with the amplifier for sound system (N40/3) (code 810 Sound system), this amplifier provides the final amplification of the audio signals.

Audio sources are:
^ Radio
^ CD player 6-disk
^ CD changer (code 819)

Service sources include:
^ Telephone
^ Traffic announcement
^ Voice output for navigation
^ Voice output with voice control system (VCS) (code 813)

Volume
A different volume setting is possible for the navigation and for the telephone. A shared setting applies to the other modes. The set volume is stored automatically by the radio and navigation unit for the currently active mode. The volume for navigation announcements can only be set during an announcement.

Automatic volume control
Automatic volume control regulates the volume
^ dependent on the vehicle speed (in vehicles without sound system) or the interior noise in the vehicle (in vehicles with sound system) (code 810 Sound system) and
^ dependent on other parameters such as window open or closed.

Fade-over of volume
Audio sources that are faded in automatically are superimposed on a currently active audio source.

An automatically faded in navigation announcement overlays, for example, the audio source radio mode which has just become active. The degree of reduction is adjustable.

Volume setting
The volume can be adjusted with the rotary pushbutton of the radio and navigation unit for each of the selected audio sources as well as for the voice output for navigation, voice output for voice control system (VCS [SBS]), and telephone.

The volume can also be controlled with the + and - buttons on the multifunction steering wheel when set to specific functions and volume control (S111s1)

Switching on again
After switching back on, the volume may be quieter than when switched off.

It is quieter if
^ the radio and navigation unit was switched off for longer than 15 min and
^ if, when switched off, the volume was set to a value within a certain range (e.g. too loud).

Muting
When muting is activated, only traffic announcements and navigation announcements are audible.

Pressing the "speaker symbol" function key activates or deactivates the mute function.

Tone setting
The radio and navigation unit enables manual sound adjustments for each audio source. The tone settings include:
^ Treble and bass
^ Balance/fader
^ Sound only with sound system (sound system, code 810)

Treble and bass
Differentiated treble and bass control is possible with the following features:
^ Radio (AM, FM)

The "left" and "right" arrow keys can be used to set the treble and bass.

Pressing the "OK" button of the cross-shaped controls stores the set value. If the operator waits until the display changes, the value is also stored.

The bass and treble for the navigation announcements can only be set during an announcement. There is no bass or treble setting provided for telephone mode.
