Telephone operation function
The portable CTEL (A34/6) is inserted into the UPCI [UHI] portable CTEL holder (Universal Portable CTEL Interface) (A34/15) in the center armrest and is thereby connected to the Universal Portable CTEL Interface (UPCI [UHI]) control unit (N123/1).

The UPCI (Universal portable CTEL Interface) control unit is connected to the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) bus.

The telephone function is a feature of the UPCI (Universal portable CTEL Interface) control unit. Menu and user control is, however, the task of the radio and navigation unit (A2/56).

User control can also be accomplished over the multifunction steering wheel or the portable CTEL buttons.

Telephone calls are only possible when the portable CTEL is in place and only in the hands-free mode.
