GF82.60-P-2003RTU Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function

GF82.60-P-2003RTU Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function
- with CODE (528) HIGH Class USA
- with CODE (530) COMAND APS USA (with navigation system)

The signal editing required for volume and tone adjustment is accomplished by the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3). There are two versions:
^ HIGH Class USA (code 528)
^ COMAND APS USA (with navigation) (code 530)

If the vehicle is also equipped with the amplifier for the sound system (N40/3) (with code 810) Sound system), it provides for the final amplification of the audio signals.

Audio sources are:
^ Radio
^ CD player
^ 6-disk CD changer (code 819)
^ Satellite Digital Audio Radio (satellite radio) (SDAR) (with code (536) SIRIUS satellite radio)

Service sources include:
^ Voice output with navigation
^ Telephone
^ Traffic announcement
^ Weatherband info channel

Volume setting
The volume setting can be regulated with the pushbutton/rotary switch for "ON" and "OFF" and the volume control on the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) for each audio source set as well as for voice output for navigation and telephone.

The volume can also be regulated from the multifunction steering wheel (MFL), via the + and - buttons, setting of specific function and volume control (S111s1).

Automatic volume control
Speed-dependent volume control and volume control which adapts to the interior noise in the vehicle is present, depending on the vehicle equipment.

^ Speed-dependent volume control , without sound system (code 810)
The volume is adapted to the vehicle speed by the speed-dependent volume control. In this case, the speed signal is used as a reference value.
^ Passenger compartment noise-dependent volume control with sound system (code 810)
The amplifier for the sound system is equipped with a dynamic volume adaptation feature. The interior volume is measured by a separate sound amplifier microphone (B25/6) for dynamic adaptation of the volume. The volume level is adapted dynamically to the noise level in the passenger compartment on the basis of the interior volume measured.

Mute
If the user presses the "MUTE" function key, the audio source presently being heard is switched to mute. The CD changer (A2/6) or the internal CD driver eventually in operation goes to the pause state. The mute function status can be initiated automatically.

When the "MUTE" button is pressed again or when the push/rotary switch for the volume is actuated, the muting is canceled.

In order to ensure the best possible fidelity over the hands-free system microphone group (A67b1), the volume of any audio source active is muted automatically during a telephone call.

If the "MUTE" button is pressed during navigation, the voice guidance is muted. The voice guidance can be switched back on, by pressing the "RPT" button.

If the "MUTE" button is pressed during operation of the satellite radio, muting is accomplished until the "MUTE" button is pressed again or the system is switched over to another audio source. When the pushbutton/rotary switch for the volume is actuated, muting is also canceled.

If an emergency call is actuated via the TELE AID emergency call system (code 359), the audio sources and service sources are automatically muted.

Tone setting
The COMAND operating, display and control unit allows manual tone settings for each audio source.

Tone settings include:
^ Treble and bass
^ Balance/fader
^ Sound (with code (810) Sound system)

Treble and bass

Differentiated treble and bass control is possible for the following functions:
^ Radio (AM, FM, weatherband info channel)
^ CD drive and CD changer
^ MP3-CD
^ AUX
^ Satellite Digital Audio Radio (Satellite radio)

The display for setting the treble or bass appears when the "Bass" or "Treble" softkey on the right multifunction buttons bar (audio function) is pressed.

The treble or bass can be adjusted with the "left" and "right" arrow keys on the joystick. The set value can be stored by pressing the "OK" button on the joystick. The value is also stored by simply waiting until the display changes.

Component Identification:

Balance/fader
Balance and fader adjustment is possible for the following functions:
^ Radio (AM, FM, weatherband info channel)
^ CD drive and CD changer
^ MP3-CD
^ AUX
^ Satellite Digital Audio Radio (satellite radio). The display for setting the balance and fader appears when the "Bal/Fad" softkey on the right multifunction buttons bar (audio function) is pressed.

The display shows a horizontal and a vertical line which intersect.
The horizontal line represents the fader, the vertical line, the balance.

The balance can be set with the "left" and "right" arrow keys on the joystick and the fader with the "up" and "down" arrow keys. The balance and fader can be adjusted simultaneously with the "/" and "\\" keys.

The setting is stored when the "OK" button on the joystick is pressed or by pressing the "Back" softkey on the right multifunction buttons bar. The value is also stored by simply waiting until the display changes.

The setting applies for the current function, however, is also stored automatically for the other functions.

Sound (with code (810) Sound system )

Sound settings are possible for the following functions:
^ Radio (AM, FM, weatherband info channel)
^ CD drive and CD changer
^ MP3-CD
^ AUX
^ Satellite Digital Audio Radio (satellite radio)

The following settings are possible:
^ "Default settings"
Bass, Treble, Balance/Fader
^ "Standard"
The sound is adjusted to the center of the vehicle
^ "Speech"
The sound is optimized for voice output
^ "LOGIC7"
Surround sound

The desired setting can be selected with the "up" and "down" arrow keys and stored with the "OK" key on the joystick.
