GF42.45-P-4502RT ESP/BAS control unit, component description
Component Identification:
Location
The ESP control unit is installed on the traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3).
Task
To perform all brake control functions of the antilock brake system (ABS), acceleration slip regulation (ASR) and Electronic Stability Program (ESP). In the case of ASR and ESP data is exchanged with the engine control unit and transmission control unit via the Controller Area Network bus Class C (engine compartment) (CAN C).
^ Influence the engine/transmission management in the case of an ESP control
^ Contains the complete Brake Assist (BAS) control unit functions.
^ To supply other systems with the vehicle speed signal and wheel speed signal (direct or via CAN C).
^ To supply the instrument cluster (A1) with the signals for the ABS indicator lamp (A1e17), ESP warning lamp (A1e41) and multifunction display (A1p13) via CAN C.
^ On vehicles with speed-sensitive power steering code 213 the ESP control unit also contains the electronics and control logic required for this.
^ The ESP control unit contains the software for tire pressure loss warning code 477. It detects a pressure loss via a comparison of wheel speeds and displays this in the multifunction display.
