Function
The upper control panel control unit reads in the status of the rotary light switch via LIN and transmits this to the front SAM control unit via CAN-B.

The front SAM control unit actuates the xenon headlamp control units accordingly. These generate an ignition auxiliary voltage and pass this on to the bi-xenon lamps.
For their part, the bi-xenon lamps generate the ignition voltage required for igniting the xenon bulbs. When successfully ignited, the bi-xenon lamps are supplied with operating voltage by the xenon headlamp control units.
