Ignition OFF, general points
For ignition OFF, first the engine and then the engine control is switched off in the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).
Ignition OFF function sequence
If the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) receives the signal "circuit 15 OFF" via the terminal 15 relay (F58kH), the engine is started through cutting out the fuel injection valves (Y62) and the ignition coil (T1) is switched off and computer run-on started.
Computer power-down is determined by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit and lasts about 5 s. It can, however, last for some minutes due to various functions (such as OBD, Drive Authorization System, thermal management).
Once the computer run-on has ended, the terminal relay 87 for the engine (F58kD) is switched off and thus the engine control is separated from the on-board electrical system (switched off).
The "tml. 31" ground connection runs from the battery (G1) through the battery ground (W10) and several ground lines to the ground of the LH major assemblies compartment (power ground (W16/3)). When the ignition is OFF, the ME-SFI control unit is supplied with power from the battery through "tml. 30 fused".
System tests are conducted by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit during the computer run-on and the fault memory is updated.
