GF82.30-D-2200H Rear Window Wiper System, Function
GF82.30-D-2200H Rear Window Wiper System, Function
- with CODE (W78) Window tailgate/hinged rear door with wipe/wash system
The rear window wiper system (WSA) is ready for operation as from "circuit 15R ON".
The rear window WSA is controlled by the SAM control unit (N10). The rear window WSA is activated and deactivated by turning the rear wiper switch (S144s5) in the combination switch (S144). The signals of the rear wiper switch are read in by the MRM control unit (N80) and forwarded over the Controller Area Network bus Class B (interior) (CAN-B) to the SAM control unit.
The SAM control unit reads in the signals of the following components:
- Rear wiper switch over CAN-B from the MRM control unit
- Rain/light sensor (B38/2), with code (JA5) Light/rain sensor, over CAN-B from the DBE control unit (N70)
- Left rear-end door switch (S166/3)
- Right rear-end door switch (S166/4)
- Backup lamp switch (S16/2)
The SAM control unit actuates the following components:
- Rear end washer fluid pump (M5/3)
- Left rear-end door wiper motor (M6/10)
- Right rear-end door wiper motor (M6/11)
By turning the rear wiper switch in the combination switch, the following functions can be adjusted:
Turning the rear wiper switch in the combination switch upwards out of the "zero position" activates the "wash" function and starts the "wipe" function.
Turning the rear wiper switch in the combination switch one position downwards out of the "zero position" activates the "intermittent wipe" function.
Turning the rear wiper switch in the combination switch out of the "intermittent wipe" position downwards one position activates the "wash" function and starts the "wipe" function.
Rear window intermittent wipe
A wiping cycle is performed immediately after activating the "rear window intermittent wipe" function. When the windshield WSA is activated and except code (JA5) Light/rain sensor, the interval for the left and right rear-end door wiper motors is synchronous to the windshield wiper motor (M6/1) interval. If the windshield WSA is deactivated and with code (JA5) Light/rain sensor, the interval is set to t = 6 s.
Reverse wiping
The backup wipe function is automatically switched on when the reverse gear is engaged (backup lamp switch signal) and the windshield WSA is active.
The following 2 function steps are started successively:
- Activation of washer function
The rear end washer fluid pump is actuated for t = 300 ms and the left and right rear-end door wiper motors are actuated for 3 cycles. If the rear wipe function is already active, the wash pulse is omitted.
- Activation of wipe function
If the windshield WSA is in intermittent operation, the rear window WSA runs synchronously (ratio 1 : 1).
If the windshield WSA is in continuous operation, the rear window WSA is activated on each 5th windshield WSA wipe cycle (ratio 1 : 5).
After turning the rear wiper switch to the "zero position", the left and right rear-end door wiper motors move to the park position. With "circuit 15R OFF", the left and right rear-end door wiper motors remain in their current position. If the status "circuit 15R ON" is activated again, then the left and right rear-end door wiper motors are moved back to their park positions (completion of wiping).
The "rear window wash" function has priority over the "backup wipe" function. This in turn has priority over the "rear window intermittent wipe" function.
Function with open rear door
If the rear door is opened at v = 0 km/h and the rear window WSA is active (signal over left and right rear-end door switches), then the left and right rear-end door wiper motors are deactivated.
If the rear-end door is closed or at v > 0 km/h and with an open rear-end end door, the left and right rear-end door wiper motors are activated again.
