Location
The roof air conditioning evaporator is located in the rear heavy duty automatic air conditioning recirculation unit on the roof of the vehicle.

Task
The refrigerant in the roof air conditioning evaporator extracts heat from the ambient air, which in turn cools the roof air conditioning evaporator and the recirculated air. The heat collected by the refrigerant in the rear air conditioning evaporator causes it to become gaseous.

Function
The refrigerant which is liquid and under high pressure is forwarded from the roof air conditioning expansion valve in partly liquid and partly gaseous form into the roof air conditioning evaporator. The liquid refrigerant evaporates in the roof air conditioning evaporator.
This evaporation process extracts heat and humidity from the recirculated air that is blowing by the pipe and honeycomb system of the roof air conditioning evaporator, causing the air to cool down and dry out. The air humidity carried along is converted to condensed water, which is routed to the outside.
