GF82.60-P-2003GQB Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function
GF82.60-P-2003GQB Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function
- with CODE (523) MB Audio 20 radio
- with CODE (510) Audio 20 with CD changer
Function requirements
^ Status "Circuit 30 ON" or "Circuit 15R ON"
^ The radio is authorized and in perfect working order
^ Audio source in operation
General
All volume and tone settings are performed using the radio (A2). This is accomplished either by the user or automatically by the radio with the aid of the speed-dependent volume control (SDV [GAL]). The volume and sound setting function can be conducted as follows:
^ General function sequence for volume adjustment on right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)
^ Function sequence for general volume setting and general, extended tone settings over the control buttons and radio rotary actuators
^ Function sequence for speed-dependent volume control
Along with the general tone settings the radio can also control, e.g. bass, treble, balance and faders, over extended tone settings.
These are:
- Surround Logic 7 On/Off, with code (810) Sound system
Operating instructions
The volume can be adjusted with the following components:
- With the + and - button, for setting specific functions and volume control (S111s1) at the right multifunction steering wheel button group
- With control buttons and rotary actuator of the radio
The sound settings can be made with the following components:
- With control buttons and rotary actuator of the radio
Function sequence, general volume setting via right multifunction steering wheel button group
Pressing the + and - button for setting specific functions and volume control increases or reduces the volume for the required audio function.
The control signals are forwarded via the following path to the radio:
- Steering LIN
- Steering column tube module (N80)
- Engine compartment CAN
- Instrument cluster (A1)
- Interior CAN
After evaluating the control signals, the desired settings on vehicles with code (810) Sound system are transmitted, over the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST), to the sound system amplifier (N40/3) and then output on the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker (H4/5)
- Right front door speaker (H4/6)
- Left rear door speaker (H4/3)
- Right rear door speaker (H4/4)
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill) (H4/27)
- Subwoofer speaker (H4/29)
- Left front door tweeter (H4/33)
- Right front door tweeter (H4/34)
- Left rear door tweeter (H4/35)
- Right rear door tweeter (H4/36)
- Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)
The audio signal for the subwoofer speaker travels via MOST from the radio to the sound system amplifier and from there, over the subwoofer amplifier (N40/9), via discrete lines, to the Subwoofer speaker.
On vehicles, except code (810) Sound system, the selected settings are processed internally, amplified and output to the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker
- Right front door speaker
- Left rear door speaker
- Right rear door speaker
- Left front door tweeter
- Right front door tweeter
- Left rear door tweeter
- Right rear door tweeter
Function sequence for general volume setting and general, extended tone settings over the control buttons and radio rotary actuators
Operating the radio's rotary actuator enables the volume to be raised or lowered for the desired audio function. Pressing the "Tone setting" button on the radio, enables the user to make all the general or extended tone settings. The control signals are read in and evaluated within the radio. On vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the desired settings are transferred via the MOST to the sound system amplifier and then output to the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker
- Right front door speaker
- Left rear door speaker
- Right rear door speaker
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill)
- Subwoofer speaker
- Left front door tweeter
- Right front door tweeter
- Left rear door tweeter
- Right rear door tweeter
- Left rear surround speaker
- Right rear surround speaker
The audio signal for the subwoofer speaker travels via MOST from the radio to the sound system amplifier and from there, over the subwoofer amplifier, via discrete lines, to the subwoofer speaker..
On vehicles, except code (810) Sound system, the selected settings are processed internally, amplified and output to the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker
- Right front door speaker
- Left rear door speaker
- Right rear door speaker
- Left front door tweeter
- Right front door tweeter
- Left rear door tweeter
- Right rear door tweeter
Function sequence for speed-dependent volume control
The speed-dependent volume control can be used to adapt the volume to the noise level in the vehicle interior. The speed signal from the instrument cluster is used as a reference value for this function. The speed signal is transferred to the radio via the following route:
- Instrument cluster
- Interior CAN
This procedure will run automatically. After evaluating the relationship indicator, the audio output is matched to the noise level in the vehicle interior.
Depending on the vehicle speed signal, the radio raises or lowers the output level of the audio signals.
On vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the output signals are transferred via the MOST to the sound system amplifier and then output to the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker
- Right front door speaker
- Left rear door speaker
- Right rear door speaker
- Center cockpit speaker (centerfill)
- Subwoofer speaker
- Left front door tweeter
- Right front door tweeter
- Left rear door tweeter
- Right rear door tweeter
- Left rear surround speaker
- Right rear surround speaker
The audio signal for the subwoofer speaker travels via MOST from the radio to the sound system amplifier and from there, over the subwoofer amplifier, via discrete lines, to the subwoofer speaker..
On vehicles, except code (810) Sound system, the selected settings are processed internally, amplified and output to the following speakers:
- Left front door speaker
- Right front door speaker
- Left rear door speaker
- Right rear door speaker
- Left front door tweeter
- Right front door tweeter
- Left rear door tweeter
- Right rear door tweeter
