Function requirements for Downhill Speed Regulation, general
^ Vehicle speed less than 30 km/h
^ Downhill Speed Regulation switched on via Downhill Speed Regulation switch (N72s30) (with code (430) Off-road package)
^ Speed setting of the Downhill Speed Regulation preset (in increments of 2 km/h, from 4 to 18 km/h) in the instrument cluster (A1) (possible immediately after ignition "ON")

Downhill Speed regulation, general
Downhill Speed Regulation is a system for off-road downhill speed regulation.

Downhill Speed Regulation, function sequence
The function sequence is subdivided into the following steps:
^ Function sequence for switching Downhill Speed Regulation on and off
^ Function sequence for set speed
^ Function abort function sequence

Function sequence for switching Downhill Speed Regulation on and off
Using the Downhill Speed Regulation switch (with code (430) off road package) in the lower control panel control unit (N72) or the Downhill Speed Regulation switch (N72/1s24) (except code (430) Off-road package) in the upper control panel control unit (N72/1), the driver can switch the Downhill Speed Regulation function on or off.

The ESP control unit (N47-5) receives the signal "switch ON". A red LED integrated in the Downhill Speed Regulation switch indicates whether the speed limiter is active.

If any variable speed limiter (e.g. cruise control CC [TPM]) is already set, it is switched off when the Downhill Speed Regulation is activated.

Function sequence for set speed
The minimum speed setting for the Downhill Speed Regulation is approx. 4 km/h. The speed setting of the Downhill Speed Regulation function can be preset in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1) in 2 km/h increments from 4 to 18 km/h using the CC [TPM] push button switch (S40) (with code (494) USA version) or CC [TPM] push button switch (S40/4) (except code (494) USA version). The speed setting can also be varied while actually driving downhill.

Function abort function sequence
When the vehicle is accelerated, the Downhill Speed Regulation switches to "passive".

When the vehicle speed drops below a threshold value of 35 km/h, the Downhill Speed Regulation resumes regulating the speed to the previously set speed setting.

If the vehicle speed exceeds a threshold value of 35 km/h, the Downhill Speed Regulation is switched off and the function LED in the Downhill Speed Regulation switch goes off.

An abort message is also displayed in the instrument cluster's multifunction display.
