The old style relay operated 6000U antenna is no longer available as a replacement part. The electronically operated 6000EL antenna is to be used in its place.

The 6000EL exceeds the 6000U in performance and reliability. When installing the replacement 6000EL on the above mentioned vehicles, the existing hardware and bracket from the 6000U is to be used. The rubber drain hose from the old 6000U antenna should be removed as it is no longer required. Plug the resulting hole in the vehicle body with MB Universal Sealing Compound (black).

Included with the scope of delivery for the 6000EL is a contact bridge (2) for the antenna switch (3). The contact bridge must be used to update the vehicle antenna control circuit so that the 6000EL antenna will function properly.

Procedure





1. Remove antenna switch from console and push contact bridge (2) over pins 1 and 2 so that bridge rests on switch.

2. Reinstall antenna switch. Test all antenna functions as well as the AM/FM reception.
