SUBJECT: MODIFIED OIL FILTER COVER MODELS 124.133 AND 124.193
Contrary to the information published in Introduction Manual Model 124.133 and 124.193, only a few early production model 124.133 vehicles had the oil filter cover without the removeable oil return pipe..
Model 124.193 had the modified oil filter cover with removeable oil return pipe (276, Figure 1) since the start of production. This oil filter cover was installed to ease removal of the oil filter element.
The modified oil filter cover can be retrofitted in early production 124.133 vehicles.
Oil Filter Change Procedure
FIGURE 1 - OIL RETURN PIPE:
1. Loosen and remove oil return pipe (276, Figure 1).
2. Loosen and remove oil filter cover nuts and oil filter cover.
3. Replace oil filter element.
4. Install oil filter cover and new seal without oil return pipe, and tighten oil filter cover nuts to 25 N-m.
5. Insert oil return pipe and new seal ring in oil filter oover and tighten to 25 N-m.
