Headliner - Updated Cleaning Precautions

REF. NO. 68/11

TO: OUR MERCEDES-BENZ PASSENGER CAR DEALERS

DATE: January, 1983

SUBJECT:
CLEANING THE MODIFIED HEADLINER MODELS 123 AND 126, EXCEPT 126.043

Since September 1982, the headliner in these models is produced with an additional cloth-like texture, colored to match the interior trim. This color print makes the headliner surface more dirt resistant.

Under no circumstances should residual adhesive material be removed from these headliners using M-B spot remover, paint thinner or with similar fluids. We recommend the use of isopropyl alcohol or "Zep-Formula 300 Safety Solvent" (or an equivalent), to prevent the imprinted color from being wiped off. If in doubt, try solvent on an inconspicuous location first.

CAUTION:
The residual adhesive material must be removed with the vehicle doors open, in a well ventilated area (preferably outside). When working with volatile or flammable liquids, always follow safety requirements on the container.

As before, dirt can be removed from the headliner with M-B Plastic Cleaner, dry foam, soap-water solution, etc.
