Policy - Warranty Return of Bosch Injection Pumps

SUBJECT: BOSCH INJECTION PUMPS WARRANTY RETURN
Warranty Inspection in Hampton is receiving an increasing number of injection pumps returned for warranty which have not been properly packaged for shipment. In many cases the ports and outlets have not been capped and contaminants have entered the pump.
The MBTC Warranty Manual states that claims may be rejected if Bosch parts are damaged or contaminated due to improper packaging or shipping (warranty Manual, page 14-2).
When returning Bosch components for warranty consideration, proceed as follows:
1. Drain all excess fuel and oil from component.
2. Close all inlet and outlet ports with protective caps.*
3. Enclose the pump in a tight fitting, sealed plastic bag.
4. Pack the pump securely in the wooden crate used for shipping the replacement pump.
* The caps from the replacement pump may be used. Additional caps or plugs are available from:

An assortment of sizes #3, #5, and #5x should be sufficient.
