SUBJECT: MODIFIED VIBRATION DAMPER FOR INJECTION PUMP ENGINE 617.95

FIGURE 1 - 6 - VIBRATION DAMPER 7 - LOCK-NUT:

A modified vibration damper adjustment screw (Figure 1, item 6) is now available in case of excessive engine vibration or shaking at operating temperature when the engine is idling.

On older injection pumps where the vibration damper no longer compensates enough, the new damper should also be installed, prior to suspecting a malfunctioning injection pump.

Damper Adjustment

1. Run engine until it reaches operating temperature.

2. Check engine idle speed and if required, adjust to 750 +/- 100 r.p.m.

3. With the lock-nut (7) loosened, turn damper screw (6) clockwise only enough to stop the vibration, then tighten locknut (Figure 1).

NOTE: Do not replace an injection pump prior to basic troubleshooting (e..g. fuel injectors, fuel condition, compression pressure, etc.).
