Fuel Injector: Application and ID
FACET-PINTLE NOZZLEPRECAUTIONS AND GENERAL INFORMATION:
WARNING: When testing, use only clean testing oil or filtered diesel fuel. Never place any body part in the discharge jet of the nozzle. Fuel jet will deeply penetrate the flesh and destroy the tissue. Fuel entering into blood may cause blood poisoning.
The shutoff valve for the pressure gauge should remain closed during spray pattern and buzzing tests to prevent damage from excessive and rapid pressure fluctuations.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
The facet-pintle nozzle, DN 0 SD 261, was installed temporarily in place of the CHIP nozzle DN 0 SD 240/ on engine 601.921. This nozzle differs from the CHIP nozzle by the flat surface on one side of the throttle pintle. This improves the throttling effect. It was used on the following vehicles:
MODEL 201.122
ENGINE END NUMBER:
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 001825 to002001
MANUAL TRANSMISSION 004791 to 005625
CHASSIS END NUMBER F 027925 to F 054261
It is identified by a yellow paint dot on the nozzle holder.
Verify the problem with the customer. If slight or occasional knock is the complaint, or knocking occurs during cold start only, experience has shown that the use of a different brand of diesel fuel will often cure the problem. Keep in mind that knocking of a cold diesel engine is not a sign of malfunction and will not harm the engine. Perform all verification tests with the engine at operating temperature. If the knocking persists after operating the vehicle on one or more tanks of different fuel, the nozzle assemblies must be removed.
