Fuel Pump: Testing and Inspection

1. Disconnect the fuel return line from the fuel pressure regulator, mounted on the side of the air flow sensor housing. Attach a hose long enough to reach to a two liter measuring container.
2. Connect terminals 7 and 8 on the fuel pump relay plug to activate the fuel pump. Fuel pump delivery should be about 1 liter (1000cc) in 40 seconds.
3. If fuel delivery volume is low, check:
a. Voltage at fuel pump (11.5vdc minimum. Check wiring and battery connections if low).
b. In tank fuel pump for operation or leaks.
c. Fuel lines for restrictions.
d. Clogged fuel filter.
e. Retest with fuel tank cap removed to test tank vent system.
f. Pinch off line between suction damper and fuel accumulator, and repeat test. If delivery is still low, replace fuel accumulator.
