Interior - Floor Covering Incorrect & Reduced Foot Room

REF. No. MBNA 68/2a

To: OUR MERCEDES-BENZ PASSENGER CAR DEALERS

DATE: July 1986
(supersedes MBNA 68/2)

SUBJECT:
REDUCED DRIVER FOOTROOM
MODEL YEAR 1986, MODEL 201

During production, the driver side floor covering was incorrectly installed on a few vehicles of above model, causing driver footroom to be reduced.

NOTE:
This situation has been remedied as of chassis end number 190320 (mid- January production).

The following steps should be taken when installing the floor covering:

1. The covering in the vicinity of the steering column jacket tube should be above the retaining clip.

2. The covering should rest on top of the heater outlet.

3. The felt surrounding the brake pedal cutout should be properly glued to the covering. If all steps are observed, proper clearance is ensured.
