SUBJECT: CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM MODIFICATIONS MODEL 124 AND 201

As of vehicle production date (see table below), the plastic pneumatic lines to the rear door actuators have been shortened and a 14" (350 mm) long connecting hose was added as a stress relief. A rubber disc was also installed on the plastic line.

In case of customer complaints regarding the central locking system not operating on earlier production vehicles, check for good connection of the plastic pneumatic line to the rubber (elbow) hose of the rear door actuators. If disconnected, or under tension, install connecting hose.

Procedure
1. Engage central locking system. If there is no vacuum/pressure leak, the supply pump will stop running after approximately 5 seconds. However, if there is a leak, the supply pump will continue to run for approximately 25 seconds before stopping.

If a leak is detected, check both rear door actuators for a disconnected pneumatic line.

2. Remove "B" pillar cover, protective bellows between "B" pillar and rear door, rear door panel and rear door actuator.

3. Partially remove the hard plastic line from the "B" pillar and cut off a piece 10" (250 mm) in length.

4. Attach connecting hose (6, Figure 1) with rubber disc (7) to rear door actuator (1) in such a way that the disc is 3" (80 mm) from the actuator.

5. Reinstall actuator with pneumatic connection pointing towards the front of the vehicle (repositioned 180~ from previous positioning). Guide connecting hose into "B" pillar.

6. Press rubber disc towards "B" pillar so that disc presses up against cut-out for protective bellows.

7. Insert pneumatic line (8, Figure 2) approximately 0.5" (12 mm) into connecting hose (6) inside the "B" pillar.

8. Check function of central locking system.

9. Reinstall protective bellows between "B" pillar and rear door, rear door panel and "B" pillar cover.

3. Partially remove the hard plastic line from the "B" pillar and cut off a piece 12" (300 mm) in length.

4. From this 12" length of line, cut off a piece 4" (100 mm) in length and save. Discard remaining line.

5. Assemble actuator and connecting hose according to Figure 3. Insert pneumatic line (4" length) approximately 0.5" (12 mm) into connecting hose.

6. Install rear door actuator with pneumatic connection pointing towards the rear of the vehicle.

7. Guide connecting hose into "B" pillar and press rubber disc towards "B" pillar so that disc presses-up against cut-out for protective bellows.

8. Insert pneumatic line (6, Figure 4) approximately 0.5" (12 mm) into connecting hose (4) inside the "B" pillar.

9. Check function of central locking system.

10. Reinstall protective bellows between "B" pillar and rear door, rear door panel and "B" pillar cover.
