RADIO DIAGNOSTIC CHART:
Verification of Complaint/Problem Interference noises, distortion and poor reception are, in many cases, caused by external sources such as mountains, geographical location, etc. Incorrect diagnosis is often the reason for unnecessary radio replacement. The following hints will help to avoid unnecessary replacement of the radio:
a) Obtain complete information about the complaint and verify it. If a test drive is required, always select a route where interference noises and distortion are common.
b) Make sure the customer is familiar with the operation of the radio.
c) Check if radio is properly tuned to local radio stations.
d) Check if antenna is fully extended (base section completely out).
e) The limitations to the radio reception due to geographical locations should be demonstrated and explained to the customer.
f) In case of weak audio output during cassette operation, clean tape head with cleaning cassette (special tool no. 903 589 00 68 00).
Using the Diagnostic Chart Find the Complaint/Problem in the left column of the chart. Perform operation(s) indicated by numbers and in the sequence of the numbers. Test No. and Test Operation are given across the top of the chart.
