In case of repairs that require the removal of the timing chain cover on M102 engines with single poly V-belt, a liquid sealing compound must be used between the timing chain cover and the crankcase. The use of a paper gasket may result in V-belt noise due to misalignment of the coolant pump and the belt pulley.

On M102 engines with multiple belt drive, a paper gasket may be used.
