As of June 1986 an A/C hose with an integral muffler was introduced in production (arrow, Figure 1).

In case of noise complaints during A/C operation in vehicles manufactured before June 1986, the described in S.I. MBNA 83/14, July 1985 should be carried out as needed.
For severe cases, an A/C hose with muffler can be retrofitted. Hose replacement should take place from below the engine compartment. Removal of the A/C compressor is included in the time allowance for this operation (for details refer to time allowance section). The refrigerant system is to be charged with 1000 grams of freon.
Correct filling quantity of refrigerant is very important. Do not use the sight glass as your indicator. The refrigerant must be weighed. With the introduction of this latest hose design, the oil filling quantity is also reduced by 20 cc.
NOTE: Approximately 10-20 cc of refrigerant oil will automatically be released when draining a fully charged system of freon.
