Component Tests and General Diagnostics

1. Install TDC impulse transmitter and connect the engine analyzer. Depress the accelerator pedal from inside of car to touch the kick-down switch or accelerator pedal stop. The injection pump lever should rest against the full throttle stop. If the throttle linkage does not line up properly, adjust throttle linkage.
2. Install remote oil temperature gauge. Run engine and warm to 75 - 85°C (167 - 185°F) oil temperature. Slowly depress accelerator pedal until it bottoms out on full throttle stop and read engine rpm. A 601.92 engine should reach 4900 to 5100 rpm and a 602.91 engine should reach 4900 to 5200 rpm.
3. If the engine does not reach the desired rpm, have the fuel injection pump checked at Bosch service station.
