REVISED TORQUE values for cylinder head screws

As of April 1987, the initial torque value for the cylinder head screws M12 ( items 1-10, Figure 1) has been changed to 55 Nm (previously 70 Nm).

In cases of repair, the revised torque value should also be applied to vehicles produced prior to the above date.





Tightening Torque Values





Before reinstalling the cylinder head screws, the shaft length must be checked (Figure 2).





Cylinder Head Screw Dimensions

If the maximum length is attained or exceeded, as indicated in the table
then new cylinder head screws must be installed.

Note:
Before installing the screw, lubricate the thread, the seat of the screw head and both surfaces of the washer.
