Sliding Roof Headliner - Modified Attachment
REF. NO. 77/15TO: OUR MERCEDES-BENZ PASSENGER CAR DEALERS
DATE: August 1987
SUBJECT:
MODIFIED ATTACHMENT OF SLIDING ROOF HEADLINER
MODEL 201
As of September 1986, the sliding roof headliner and panel were modified and now utilize plastic clips (arrow, Figure 2) instead of the previous metal fasteners (arrow, Figure 1) used to attach the headliner. In addition, the corresponding holes in the sliding roof panel have also been modified.
The modified sliding roof headliner and panel can also be installed in vehicles built prior to September 1986. When ordering replacement parts, only the modified versions (plastic clip) under the same part numbers will be supplied.
Plastic clips (4 per sliding roof panel) which are damaged, may be replaced with the metal fasteners. However, all remaining parts of the damaged plastic clip must be removed first.
NOTE:
In vehicles up to Chassis End No. A 362732 or F 244965, only metal fasteners must be used for attaching headliner to sliding roof panel. This is due to the different version hole in the sliding roof panel.
