Computers and Control Systems: Description and Operation
Fig. 16 CIS-E Injection System:
The CIS-E (Bosch KE-Jetronic) fuel injection system Fig. 16, is mechanically and electronically controlled. It uses the basic CIS (K-Jetronic) system for injection, with electronically controlled correction functions.
The mechanical portion of the CIS-E system consists of a mixture control unit (air flow meter and fuel distributor), fuel pressure regulator, auxiliary air valve, cold start valve, throttle body, injector nozzles, fuel pump and fuel filter.
The electronic portion of the system consists of an airflow sensor position indicator, electro-hydraulic actuator (EHA), thermo time switch, coolant temperature sensor, electronic control unit (ECU), transistorized ignition unit, throttle valve switch, altitude correction device, lambda control, and oxygen sensor.
The CIS-E system is designed to provide adequate operation in the event of an ECU malfunction. The system is also equipped with over-voltage protection for its more sensitive electronic components.
