EGR Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation
EGR Temperature Sensor Location:
The temperature of the recirculated exhaust gases are measured by the EGR temperature sensor. The sensor is located in the exhaust gas recirculation line and sends a signal to the CIS-E control unit in the form of a resistance value. Under certain operating conditions, exhaust gas temperatures less than approx. 290°F are recognized as a fault by the CIS-E control unit, (no exhaust gas recirculation). The "Check Engine" light will illuminate and a fault code will be stored in the ECU memory.
