Date: July 1998

Order No.: P-SI-MBNA-83/43A

Supersedes: MBNA 83/43, June 1992

Group: 83

Revision: New A/C compressor part number

SUBJECT:
MODELS WITH ENGINES 102.961, 616.912, 617.912/95
REPLACEMENT A/C COMPRESSOR WITH MODIFIED FLANGE CONNECTION

The A/C compressor (part no. 102 130 05 15 and subsequently 102 130 05 15) referred to in Service Information MBNA 83/43 has been superceded. Both superceded compressors are R12 versions. The replacement A/C compressor (part no. 000 230 47 11) is filled with 7.8 oz of synthetic (PAG) oil and is for use with R134A systems. If the compressor is to be used in a system using R12, drain the compressor oil into a measured container and refill the compressor with the same amount of recommended R12 oil. To prevent oil spillage when installing the compressor, fill the compressor with oil after the completion of installation.

WARNING!
AVOID SYNTHETIC (PAG) OIL CONTACT WITH SKIN. REFER TO MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS FOR PROPER HANDLING.

This compressor uses seal washers at the hose flange connection as did the compressor it replaces. when connecting the flange connection, place the green seal washer in the 5/8" discharge port of the compressor and the yellow washer seal in the 3/4"' suction port. Do not reuse the old washer seals. Make certain that the mating faces of the connecting flange are clean and connect the hose flange assembly to the compressor, making sure that the washer seals lie flat against the compressor and connecting plate.

Tightening Torque: 34 Nm.

When correctly installed, there will be approximately a 1.2 mm gap between the compressor housing and the flange assembly. Do not mistake this as a loose connection or a mis-assembled joint.
