ALTERNATE CONDENSER APPLICATION FOR 00 830 14 70
MODEL 201.024 (M.Y. 1985 AND 1986 UP TO VIN F-200388)
If condenser part no. 000 830 14 70 is not available, then condenser part no. 201 830 17 70 (or the updated versions) may be physically modified as outlined and used instead.
From an A/C system performance standpoint, the condensers are identical. The major difference is the addition of a support bracket which was added to condenser part no. 201 830 17 70 (arrow). The support bracket must be cut off. This must be done to avoid interfering with the auxiliary fan shroud, which on the above mentioned vehicles was located further to the left.
Procedure
1. Lay condenser, part no. 201 830 17 70 (or the updated versions), flat.
2. Cover condenser fins with sheet metal or cardboard to avoid damaging the condenser.
3. Cut off bracket (arrow) flush with fin height.
4. Deburr and paint the bare metal.
