Radio - Installation/Removal, Update

A. Model 129
Removal/Reinstallation of New Generation (two-Piece) Radio

As of September 1990 production, new generation radios (two-piece) have been installed in model 129. The two-piece radios have retaining springs on the left and right side of the chassis which must be unlocked, using special Removal Keys, before the radio can be removed.

Procedure





1. Insert Removal Keys into slots until keys click into place (lettering on Keys must face up; LINKS into left side, RECHTS into right side) (Fig. 1).

2. Pull radio unit from console using key loops.

3. Disconnect electrical connections and antenna cable from radio.

4. Reinstall radio in reverse sequence.

Note:
Remove Keys from radio prior to reinstallation.

B. Model 201
Modified Mounting of One-Piece Radio

As of July 1990 production, a modified radio mounting was installed which secures the radio with two metal spring clips instead of the previous plastic clips.





The clips engage on the bottom left and right side of the radio cavity (arrow, Fig. 2).

Procedure

1. Remove ashtray.





2. Push left clip downward using Plastic Wedge. Simultaneously, push left side of radio approximately 5 mm out of the radio cavity. Push right clip downward and completely remove radio from cavity (Figure 3).

3. Disconnect electrical connections and antenna cable from radio.

4. Reinstall radio in reverse sequence.
