Power Loss Due to Clogged Fuel Filters
Power loss is often caused by dirty or clogged fuel filters. Check the vehicle fuel tank regularly for water. Water causes corrosion in the fuel system, which results in dirty or clogged fuel filters. Water also promotes the growth of microorganisms such as algae, fungi, bacteria, and yeast. Adding a microbiocide to the fuel will kill, but not dissolve, these organisms.
To stop this kind of power loss:
1. Clean and inspect the fuel tank. Replace the tank if heavily corroded.
2. Change the fuel filter(s).
3. Add a microbiocide to the fuel supply. Contact your local fuel supplier for a specific product recommendation.
