Functional Operation
The position of the accelerator pedal is conveyed to the accelerator pedal position sensor on models 124, 140, 201 and 129 through the accelerator pedal, the accelerator pedal lever, the Bowden cable, the connecting lever and linkage rod; and on model 126 through the accelerator, accelerator lever and control linkage (see Brakes and Traction Control/Application and ID. Adjustment of the throttle valve then occurs through the electronic components such as the accelerator pedal position sensor, electronic accelerator pedal control unit and accelerator actuator. The throttle valve is activated by the output lever of the actuator through control linkage and a connecting lever. The adjustment range reaches from the idle stop to the full throttle stop. If there is a malfunction of the electronic components, movement of the throttle valve is possible through the telescoping rod (backup rod) on models 124, 201, 126 and 129. This way the driver has the use of approx. 2/3 of the engine power.
Throttle Valve Return Spring:
On model 126 the return springs (see illustration, items 22 and 9) on the throttle valve connecting lever and the accelerator pedal position sensor connecting lever are identical. They should not be exchanged with the return spring (27) on the throttle valve.
