SUBJECT:
MODELS 129, 140, MODEL YEARS 1992 - 1994 SUPERCESSIONS AND SUBSTITUTIONS FOR CELLULAR TELEPHONE (CTEL) COMPONENTS

Since the introduction of the Mercedes-Benz cellular telephone in model year 1992, there have been several changes in the telephone system due to vehicular, technological and performance improvements. Due to these changes, there are a significant number of kits and components which are either obsolete or no longer in production.

This Service Information addresses these changes, and offers the most efficient and cost-effective alternatives to replace these parts, in most cases using the latest version parts. The following tables list the model application, specify all of the parts required to install a telephone, and reference the appropriate Work Instructions. Please note that, due to an increase in the number of parts required for installations in earlier model year vehicles, the cost may be higher than the original kit price.

Note:
These kits should only be used for installations. If performing warranty repairs only replace the failed part.
