SUBJECT: MODEL 201 MODIFIED SWITCHOVER VALVE UNIT FOR CONTROL OF VACUUM ELEMENTS





As of Model Year 1991, the switchover valve unit for control of vacuum elements has 7 connections (Figure 2). Previous versions consisted of two smaller units which had 4 and 5 connections respectively.

The switchover valve unit (with 7 connections) may also be installed in vehicles prior to production change.


The removal/installation of the switchover valve unit is described in SMS Repair Instructions, Group No. 83, Job No. 153.





If the previous version switchover valve unit is replaced with the 7 connection switchover valve unit, then the vacuum lines should be connected according to the vacuum diagram (Figure 3). The existing bracket for the switchover valve may still be used.
