REF.NO. MBNA 99/142

SUBJECT:
CLARIFICATION OF MBNA TIME ALLOWANCES FOR WARRANTY REPAIRS

Time allowances established for warranty repairs are based on the actual average time required to perform the operation under normal workshop conditions. The efficiency of an experienced technician and the use of recommended test and repair procedures, special tools and genuine Mercedes-Benz parts were considered in the calculation of these allowances. Time required to prepare the car, obtain the tools, parts and other necessary materials to complete the job as well as a personal allowance are also included. Time allowances do not include the time necessary to remove and reinstall special vehicle equipment other than Mercedes-Benz O.E.M. options and accessories.

These time allowances have been established by performing actual time studies in the U.S. as well as at MBAG. Time allowances are, however, subject to change for the following reasons:

^ New time studies.

^ Reclassification of major repairs as related repairs.

^ Revised work procedures.

^ Reevaluation of initial labor times for new models.

^ Correction of publication errors.

Generally, the result of these changes is that the time allowances are increased far more often than they are decreased.

Comments regarding a particular time allowance can be submitted using the Service Microfiche Time Guide Errors/Omissions form S-2043-000.

These forms can be obtained in the usual manner via MB-NET using the ordering information provided below.

Completed forms must be submitted to your Field Service Manager.
