Fuel Pump# 2
Special Tool:
SPECIAL TOOL
Special tool# 000 589 40 37 00 (hose clamp) or equivalent is needed to perform this procedure.
Replacing Fuel Pump# 2 (M3m2):
REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT
1. Release fuel tank pressure by removing the fuel cap.
2. Disconnect the negative battery pole.
3. Remove protective box (69).
4. With special tool# 000 589 40 37 00 (hose clamp) or equivalent, pinch off fuel suction (53) and pressure (52) hose.
5. Remove cap nut (54a) from fuel pump# 1 (M3m1). Collect remaining fuel with fuel safe container.
WARNING: Fuel may be under pressure. Use a rag or other protective device to shield your face from the fuel spray.
6. Remove cap nut (54b) from fuel pump# 2 (M3m2). Collect remaining fuel with fuel safe container.
7. Remove fuel pressure hose (52).
8. Loosen fuel pump bracket (57) screws (arrow).
9. Remove electrical connector protection caps at fuel pump# 2.
10. Disconnect electrical connectors from fuel pump# 2. Positive cable uses M4 connection thread, negative cable uses M5 connection thread.
11. Remove fuel line (61) from fuel pump# 1. Pay attention to spacer (65).
12. Remove fuel pump# 2.
13. Remove fuel line (61) from fuel pump# 2.
14. Install in reverse order. Check for the following:
a. Install fuel pump with plastic sheet (56). Plastic sheet protects against corrosion between pump and bracket.
b. Install fuel hoses/lines with new cooper seals (62) only.
c. Torque screws 54a and 54b to:
9 Nm (6.6 ft. lb.)
15. Run engine and check for leaks.
