Spring Link, Replacement of Mounts:




NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

REMOVAL

WARNING
^ Risk of fatal injury due to vehicle slipping off or tilting on the hoist
^ Align vehicle between the pillars of the hoist and position the four support plates at the hoist mounting points specified by the vehicle manufacturer


- Refer to the illustration above and the information below during removal procedures
- Remove rear spring, refer to Coil Spring, Suspension
- Remove Shock absorber or spring strut
- Detach at spring link end only





- Using press out and press in tool (06a, 06b), tool No. 140 589 05 43 00, press rubber mount (6b) out of spring link.





NOTE: In order to press out tight rubber mounts (6b) accurately, press the small protrusion of the rubber mount with a flat pressure disc (06x) forward up to the spring link bush.





- Press rubber mount (6b) with press out and press in tool (06a 06b) into the spring link, until it abuts the spring link bushing

INSTALLATION
- Reverse procedures to install, noting the following:
- Replace self locking nuts
- When tightening the nuts the rear axle shaft must be horizontal
- Tighten the following components as noted:
- Self-locking nuts for attaching shock absorber to spring link: 100 Nm
- Self-locking nut spring strut, level control/ADS on spring link: 100 Nm
- Self-locking nut for attaching spring link to rear axle carrier: 70 Nm
- Self-locking nut for attaching spring link to wheel carrier: 120 Nm
