Camshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
In order to obtain correct coordination of the fuel injection timing, the fuel injection sequence must be synchronized. The camshaft position sensor (L5/1) is used for this purpose.

OPERATION
The camshaft position sensor produces two AC voltage signals per camshaft revolution. This signal is processed by the EZL/AKR control module into a square wave signal and transmitted to the LH control module via controller area network (CAN). Synchronization takes place during start-up to about 600 RPM.
