Programming and Relearning

If an injection control module is the suspect problem or defective, it should be replaced with a known good or new unit. After replacement, the control module's "self-adaptive" feature must be reset to erase any "learned" values. Each injection control module (LH-SFI) must be reset individually.

SPECIAL TOOLS
The following special tools are required to perform the reset procedure:

Impulse Counter Scan Tool:





a. Impulse counter scan tool# 124 589 19 21 00 (or equivalent).

Impulse Counter Adapter:





b. Impulse counter adapter# 140 589 14 63 00 (or equivalent).

Test Equipment Hook-up:





TEST EQUIPMENT HOOK-UP
Connect the Impulse counter (013) and adapter (075) according to connection diagram. LED "U-Batt" must light up. If "U-Batt" does not light up, check power supply and impulse counter fuse.

CLEARING FAULT CODE MEMORY AND RESETTING ECM
1. Turn ignition "ON".
2. Press start button for 2 - 4 seconds.
3. Read fault code.
4. Press start button for 6 - 8 seconds, thereby clearing the previously displayed fault code.
5. Repeat steps 1 - 3 until fault code "1" appears (no faults stored).
6. After fault code "1" appears on the display, press start button for 6 - 8 seconds. This will reset the control module to its basic settings.
7. Turn ignition OFF and wait for 30 seconds.
