Front Suspension
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheels.2. Remove lower engine compartment cover.
3. Using special socket attachment tool 202 589 00 09 00, or equivalent, remove upper shock absorber mounting nuts.
4. Disconnect wheel speed sensor and intermediate plug connection for brake pad wear indicator.
5. Using cable extractor, or equivalent, pull front axle wiring harness downward and remove at clips.
6. Disconnect brake hose from brake line and plug both lines to avoid dirt contamination.
7. Using special front spring compressor tool 000 589 46 31 00, or equivalent, and special compressor plate tool 000 589 79 63 00, or equivalent, remove front springs.
8. Loosen track rod nut, then using special extractor tool 202 589 02 33 00, or equivalent, and special thrust piece tool 129 589 10 63 00, or equivalent, press track rod ball joint from steering knuckle.
9. Using special extractor tool 124 589 03 33 00, or equivalent, and special thrust piece tool 201 589 05 63 00, or equivalent, to remove guide joint from steering knuckle.
10. Mark position of eccentric bolts relative to frame at control arm mounting.
11. Remove eccentric bolts and support control arm.
12. Remove complete suspension assembly.
13. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:
a. Ensure brake hoses are not twisted during installation.
b. Bleed brake system.
c. Tighten eccentric bolts to specification only with vehicle wheels on ground.
